I had the opportunity to dine with a friend at a hidden gem called Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, a chain restaurant , located at the Garnet Valley Plaza Center in Chadds Ford. The restaurant is rather small but has a select room to accommodate 20-22 people for special events. They will work with you to provide a special menu if needed.
I made reservations in advanced and we were seated quickly when we arrived precisely on time.
Our server arrived in a reasonable amount of time to our table to take our order for beverages and appetizers.
She was extremely courteous and prompt returning with our appetizers, shrimp with mango salsa and jalapeno deviled eggs. A delightful starter for our meal.
This is a steakhouse, so if you are fond of having that rich smoky flavor added to your meal, look no further. They offer authentic wood-fired steaks, seafood, specialty cocktails, select wines, and variety of beers in an upscale lodge-like setting.
The main course consisted of meatloaf with port mushrooms, real mashed potatoes with the skins and a substitution of mixed veggies in place of the traditional green beans. Have you ever tasted meatloaf from a fire grill? What a difference to a comfort food staple. Delicious!
I selected the filet with shrimp and a loaded baked potato. The filet was a tad rare to my liking for I had requested medium, but of good quality. The shrimp came on a skewer and were nicely seasoned along with the abundantly filled baked potato.
They also have a decent selection of wine from light to full bodied, or if you prefer something non-alcoholic, they have milk, juices, lemonade, and other soft-drinks.
The best we saved for last. The dessert! Hmmm… not a large selection, but they make up for it in taste. My suggestion is the crème brûlée cheesecake and the key lime pie, both decadent.
Oh, do not forget to leave room if you enjoy after dinner drinks. They have coffees with a kick, cognac, cordials, and ports. And if you feel Scottish, perhaps go with a “whisky,” but if you feel the Irish in you, order a “whiskey,” either way it’s the same.
Treat yourself to a casual atmosphere, reasonable prices with bold flavors. Bon Appetite!
